The frontal lobe of the of the brain activates when you inhale cocaine. The same thing happens to your brain when you see advertisements on status brands like Apple advertising a new Apple watch. Car companies make consumers feel like they will be someone cool if they have a nice car. Being cool doesn’t mean that you are a good person to interact with anymore, now people think that as long as you have a something cool/expensive like a car makes you cool. I agree with their opinion that brands don’t say anything about you because i don’t think buying a specific brands makes you cool, I just think that it separates rich from poor. Some brands that are considered cool for teenagers are Apple, Nike, Adidas, Levis, Hollister, etc.

 

You feel the most pain of paying for something when you physically see the cash going into the register  or when you see your balance going down on your checking account. It feels bad because you see the money you had go away in a instant on something you might not require to live. It doesn’t feel as bad when you spend money when you are just swiping and have to pay until the end of the month. When all you have to do is swipe to buy something you feel like it doesn’t take anything from you until you actually go pay it at the end of the month.

Companies will use human psychology to their advantage by telling customers that they will not have to pay it instantly in one payment. They will be allowed to pay later on and in smaller payments so customers don’t feel like they are giving all the money they have away. When you buy something like a phone and you have time to pay it then the companies will time, but at the end they will hit you with interest and you just end up losing more money. Credit cards make people feel like the money isn’t coming straight from your pocket so that you don’t feel remorse for spending it.

Telling a Friend

If I went home and told a friend about the movie about inequality i would tell him that we should be paying more attention to our economics because we are stuck in tough situation were we owe trillions of dollars in debt. I would tell my friend that we would be effected by this because the government will need the people to  contribute to help pay the debt and there could be cuts in programs. The government will not be able to fund money for scholarships and for healthcare.

Thoughts

This film made me feel like if the cycle that the U.S is going through could have been prevented if the 9/11 disaster didn’t happen. The debt the U.S has holds everyone in a hole that is really complicated to get out of. I also feel like the wealthy people in the country are getting too rich and are taking all the money from the poor. I also feel like it shouldn’t be legal for people to fund a candidates campaign and be able to change the law so that it favors to them.
